The ‘Sniper’ franchise started back in 1993 and has kept itself alive for 30 years despite receiving mixed to generally negative critical reviews. The earlier films in the series, particularly the first one released in 1993, had a more favorable reception compared to some of the later installments. This is partly the reason why the movies ended up going straight to DVDs. Here’s the release date order of all ‘Sniper’ movies.

All movies in the ‘Sniper’ franchise are connected through a shared theme, but not all are direct sequels. The first three movies are definitely connected, but for the latter, it depends.

Due to this, it would probably be best if you watched the movies in release date order, as more characters and protagonists are introduced, although some movies can be watched as standalone installments as well.

The chronology of ‘Sniper’ movies is relatively simple and follows the release date, even though the continuity between the movies is extremely loose.

1. ‘Sniper’ (1993)

Master Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Beckett is an experienced Marine sniper, and his spotter, Cpl. Papich complete a successful mission to assassinate a Panamanian rebel leader but faces unexpected danger during extraction, resulting in Papich’s death. Later, Beckett is paired with inexperienced civilian Richard Miller to eliminate a rebel general, facing challenges as Miller, despite having no combat experience, is credited with a kill during an attack on their helicopter, earning him a false reputation.

2. ‘Sniper 2’ (2002)

Former Marine sniper Thomas Beckett, despite losing his index finger, is recruited by CIA officer James Eckles and Colonel Dan McKenna to undertake a mission to assassinate renegade Serbian General Mile Valstoria, known for conducting ethnic cleansing operations in Muslim-populated areas of Serbia. Beckett’s past skills and expertise make him the ideal candidate for the task despite his physical limitations.

3. ‘Sniper 3’ (2004)

After returning to the U.S. Marine Corps post-Sniper 2, Thomas Beckett attends the wedding of his friend’s son, Neil Finnegan, and reads a letter from his deceased friend. Beckett, facing health issues from nerve damage in his hand, is urged to retire by his friend’s widow, Sydney, who subtly suggests a romantic interest.

4. ‘Sniper: Reloaded (2011)

Marine Sgt. Brandon Beckett, son of the previous film’s protagonist, Thomas Beckett, embarks on a mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. After a sniper ambush leaves him wounded and his team dead, Beckett, assisted by his father’s former protégé and a UN Lieutenant, seeks vengeance for his fallen comrades.

5. ‘Sniper: Legacy’ (2014)

After being informed of his father Thomas Beckett’s alleged assassination, Brandon Beckett discovers that it’s a ruse to lure out an assassin. As he tracks down the renegade sniper, David Simpson, Brandon uncovers a plot where his father is being used as bait.

6. ‘Sniper: Ghost Shooter’ (2016)

Brandon Beckett and Richard Miller, elite snipers, are assigned to safeguard a Georgian gas pipeline from terrorists. Tensions rise when a terrorist sniper named Ravshan Gazakov, who knows their precise location, starts eliminating their team, raising suspicions of a security breach.

7. ‘Sniper: Ultimate Kill’ (2017)

Colombian drug kingpin Jesús Morales hires a deadly sniper, “El Diablo,” to eliminate rivals and secure drug smuggling routes into the United States. DEA agent Kate Estrada, accompanied by Master Sergeant Brandon Beckett, is tasked with stopping “El Diablo” and bringing Morales to justice.

8. ‘Sniper: Assassin’s End’ (2020)

Special Ops Sniper Brandon Beckett is framed as the main suspect in the murder of a foreign dignitary, leading him to believe there’s a dark operative within the government. In a race against the CIA, Russian mercenaries, and a skilled Yakuza-trained assassin, Brandon teams up with his father, legendary Sniper Master Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Beckett, to uncover the truth.

9. ‘Sniper: Rogue Mission’ (2022)

In this installment, Sniper and CIA Rookie Brandon Beckett goes rogue to combat a corrupt federal agent involved in a human sex trafficking ring. With the help of former allies Homeland Security Agent Zero and assassin Lady Death, they aim to expose the corruption and dismantle the criminal organization.

10. ‘Sniper: G.R.I.T. – Global Response & Intelligence Team’ (2023)

Ace Sniper Brandon Beckett and the newly formed Global Response and Intelligence Team (G.R.I.T.) are on a mission in Malta to thwart an international terrorist plot and rescue their fellow agent, Lady Death.
